About the Author

Ann Leonard

A.M. Leonard has lived her whole life in Upstate New York…and anywhere else a good book can transport her. The daughter of two veterinarians, she grew up semi-feral on a rural farm, which gave her a lifelong love of animals and nature. When not creating a fantasy world where the good guys always win (eventually), her favorite things involve caring for plants and animals, wandering in the peace and quiet of forests and wide-open spaces, making music, and spending time with family and friends. Urban environments, noisy crowds, and heavy traffic are “not her favorites.” Although she’s extra fond of her dog, cat and horses, she is beginning to think pet rabbits are very cool, too.  She and her husband live on a small farm surrounded by several thousand acres of state-owned forest.

A footnote: My whole family reads my books. Consequently, my books do not contain anything that could be construed as inappropriate for most audiences. There are precious few swear words in my YA books. Yes, there is kissing and canoodling, and also quite a bit of teenage angst over a certain good looking Cait Sidhe, but nothing that could be labeled “explicit.” I would rate my books PG 13 due to the bad guys being awful. Yes, there are bad guys! and scary situations, … but if my sheltered grandkids can handle it, you can be assured it’s not so over the top that it will give you nightmares. I write to entertain and to challenge independent thought; these stories touch on current events and social issues, as well as family dynamics and secrets, and are supportive of all people regardless of who they are, what they believe or how they identify themselves. I created Raven as a biracial teenager on purpose: we all belong.
