ADVANCE PRAISE

  • Roger A. Smith, Author of Rian Krieger's Journey, a Historical Saga in Nine Parts

A heroine's quest that would make the mythologist Joseph Campbell proud.  Raven is far from your typical heroine, however. We meet her as a sixteen-year-old, but she looks to be two. She is sassy, hip, half Native American, half Irish, dream walks to other dimensions, literally hears music in her surroundings, and for much of her journey can only communicate telepathically with a cat. We accompany Raven as she attempts to make sense of numerous mysteries that have turned her once-normal life into a rapid-fire sequence of crises. Along the way, we encounter non-conforming life forms, a horse that flies, … and that cat, who can shapeshift into a pretty good-looking guy. Put your seatbelt on!

What’s Hunter’s Moon all about?

When Raven wakes up toddler-sized on her 16th birthday, she has no idea the challenges her weird age regression will present. Immediately under attack from forces unknown, she flees across the country to her Irish grandmother, who alone understands the strange body changes Raven is experiencing.

They share an ability for magic … magic that comes with a challenging side effect: their bodies age and de-age with the phases of the moon.

Before Raven can learn anything about moon magic from her Nan, she is kidnapped by Cerridwen, Celtic Goddess of the Moon, who places a curse on Raven’s voice. With only the help of a reluctant (and often annoying) Cait Sidhe, and an unreliable Dark Horse, Raven is cast adrift in the unfamiliar world of Tír na nÓg, relentlessly stalked by the Morrigan, Goddess of Death. If she is to return home, Raven must somehow recover her voice and discover her innate talent for music and magic ... a nearly insurmountable task that would be a whole lot easier if she did not also have to fight off far-too-many nightmarish creatures, send a Chinese dragon back to his own dimension, and rescue yet another goddess from an ill-conceived marriage …

  • A Fun New Series

What a fun read! I was immediately drawn in to Raven's world and was rooting for her to figure things out. She has just the right amount of sass and spunk and it is easy to empathize with her struggles to comprehend just what is going on. I can't wait for the next book in the series to learn more about her and all that's going on around her.

  • Vivid and Compelling

Anyone interested in this genre will find Hunter’s Moon so vividly compelling that it’s like watching a well executed movie. Beautifully scripted details fill the reader in on every aspect of the imaginary world of Tír na nÓg without bogging down the narrative. A. M. Leonard’s story is utterly believable; and so, we cheer the heroine Raven and her cait sidhe bodyguard Kellas as they take on unimaginable odds, overcoming her childhood demons one by one, while gaining a new level of understanding of the importance of friendship, family and home. A page turner.

  • Delightful!

Delightful swirl of black (shape-changing) cat-panthers, horses and magical music making with a young heroine who charges through it a strange alternative universe. Sure to please young (and not so young) readers!
