Raven Song Blog … The latest from the desk of A.M. Leonard
If only i had a cat…
It’s fun writing fantasy, if only because I can arrange things so everything works out grand in the end for my protagonists! It’s not so easy in real life, as anyone can tell you.
Finding Balance
It’s a tricky thing, balancing all the aspects of your life. I know I am not always that successful at it.
Elevator Pitch
I don’t know about other authors, but when I get asked “what’s your book about?” I freeze up. Especially if I have thirty seconds or less to get the message across. That’s called the “elevator pitch’ and I need to work a it! So, I’ve been pulling ideas together. I’m told the last one “sells the book.” What do you think?
Blue Moon Available
I am almost beside myself with excitement. After some truly intense months of dedicated work, I have a second book about ready to launch. Blue Moon, The Lunatics~Book Two is available for pre-order from Amazon, and will be released on May 1st, Beltane, one of the four Celtic Fire Festivals.
I like men
I do! I like men. Guys who smile back when I smile at them. Guys who catch me and just chuckle when I apologize for blindly crashing into them …
Introducing Cinnabunny
I promised to share a story about a rabbit recently, and am now getting around to doing just that!
Cinnabunny was not planned. Oh, no, he was not. You see, somebody dropped him off near our home where we live surrounded by thousands of acres of state forest, and drove off. Now, perhaps I am assuming a bit here but who would bring their pet rabbit out for a walk and then just, well, turn him loose? …
What I’m reading
I don’t write 24-7, although my family sometimes thinks I do. I have much the same household duties as you all do, as well as horse, dog, cat and now rabbit care. (More on the rabbit soon! Cool story.) I also am working hard on my fitness and have regained much of what I lost to years of long term illness (that’s boring, I won’t waste your time) When I kick back to relax now, though? I love to read other authors who write the same kind of thing I write…
Your Favorite Line
We all have them! Our favorite lines from books and movies. The ones that stick long after the book or movie has been set aside. Remember “He’s not dead, he’s only mostly dead” from Princess Bride? Or “Do, or do not. There is no try” from Empire Strikes Back? Readers have already been telling me their favorites from Hunter’s Moon. What’s yours? …
Light in Darkness
As we approach the darkest night of the year, I muse about winter and the dark and what it means to those of us who are closely connected to the natural world…

Poster Power

Blue Moon on Samhain

Raven’s Medallion
When I wrote about the medallion Raven is given by the bard Taliesin, I had only a vague idea what it actually looked like. That bothered me…
Why write Fantasy?
Oh, that’s an easy one. Because it’s fun. It frees you to turn your imagination totally loose and ask yourself “what if?”…
The real challenge
Someone asked me recently what was the hardest part of writing a book. Phew! Good one! Let me think about that a bit…
On your mark, set …!
On September 1st … that’s tomorrow as I write this … Hunter’s Moon The Lunatics~Book One goes on sale where-ever books are sold…
A Plea for praise
One of the uphill battles we self published authors face is getting noticed…
Getting Raven to You
Well, here we are, on the cusp of a new adventure. Like with all adventures, there is a serious amount of prior proper preparation, and you know what? It’s never quite enough…
